Alessi wins bout in 45 seconds
ATLANTIC CITY — Team Fury’s Michael Alessi and Jeremy Pullen did battle at Resorts Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City Saturday night. The New Breed Fighters mixed martial arts (MMA) event filled the Superstar Theater as 22 fights took place. In the Absolute division (over 250 pounds ) Alessi defeated Dave Eckert of AFS Team Asylum. Alessi came out and countered Eckert’s jab, connecting with a crushing overhand right. The two then traded punches before Eckert pressed Alessi up against the cage. After a short stint in the clinch, Alessi pushed off his opponent and peppered Eckert with punches. The AFS fighter attempted to rush at Alessi but was caught with a straight kick followed by a right hook for his efforts. Eckert clinched up and attempted to slow the action by taking down Alessi who in turn locked in a guillotine choke. Eckert was forced to tap at 0:45 seconds of the very first round sending the packed theater into a frenzy. Pullen was matchedagainst Paul Minore of United Martial Arts in the 146.9-pound division. Minore came out landing devastating leg kicks while keeping his distance. Pullen managed to do damage when he was able to get on the inside and closed out the first round with a barrage of punches that left Minore with a cut above his right eye. Minore was eventually able to take the fight to the ground in the second round and worked for submissions. Pullen fended off all attempts and worked back to his feet in every instance but the prior leg kicks seemed to do their job and take a toll on his movement. The third round was much of the same and Minore, who holds a purple belt in jiu-jitsu, could not submit Pullen no matter how hard he tried. When all was said and done Minore came out on top with a hard fought decision. Alessi and Pullen look to take to the cage again on April 11 in Atlantic City . Team Fury members are sponsored by Combat-In-Effect which are one of the top up-and-coming clothing companies in the MMA industry. The New Breed Fighters event featured three title fights to conclude the show. Ryan Vaccaro defeated Phil Doig by decision to take the Super Welterweight Title (153.9) and Chris “Red Line” Wing won by TKO in the first round to lay claim to the light heavyweight title (174.9). In the final fight Jared “Flash” Gordon (4-1) handed Robbie “Flawless” Lawless (4-1) his first defeat by winning a split decision in the Welterweight Title bout.
